Short 2" focuser for Newtonian telescopes with base for astrophotography and observation - with intermediate thread for screw adaptations
♦ 8 large ball bearings for clean draw tube storage
♦ Rack and pinion extension tube adjustment - adjustment is sensitive even under maximum load
♦ Realistic load capacity of up to 5 kg, also for precision astrophotography
♦ M54x0.75 intermediate thread between 2" plug-in adapter for screw connections - extension tube can be extended with optional M54 extension sleeves
♦ Tilt not possible when clamping the focuser: clamping is done directly on the adjustment axis, so the focus position is kept at 100%
♦ Includes flexible base for telescope tubes from 230mm - suitable for Newtonian telescopes from 8" aperture
♦ Short overall height including base - only 58mm to 2" receptacle - only 50mm to draw tube M54x0.75 internal thread
♦ Eyepiece side connections - Internal thread M54x0.75, 2" and 1.25" with self-centering adapter
RAP TS UNC 2" focuser for Newtonian telescopes
The TS UNCN2-G2 focuser is optimized for Newtonian telescopes when heavy accessories need to be precisely focused. This focuser is specially optimized for astrophotography. Therefore, we also recommend this focuser for the ONTC and UNC Newtonian telescopes of our own production. The drawer can be fully loaded with accessories up to 5 kg without tilting or reducing adjustment accuracy.
The product advantages and features of UNCN2-G2 focuser:
♦ Maximum rigidity: the extension tube is held in place by 8 ball bearings and the extension tube is adjusted by a pinion gear
♦ 22mm rack and pinion adjustment range
♦ The focuser supports up to 8 kg with total precision
♦ Intermediate thread M54x0.75 for screw adaptations or if the extension tube is to be extended, suitable extension sleeves are available.
♦ One of the shortest focusers in its class with a height of only 58mm to 2" and a height of only 50mm to the M54x0.75 thread when the extension tube is retracted
♦ Easy fixing to existing pipes, the base is included
♦ The focuser is not supported by pressure on the focuser tube, which may cause it to tilt. The adjustment axis is clamped. This maintains the focus position at 100% without risk of tilting, which is important for astrophotography.
♦ 1:11 micro reduction ensures precise manual adjustment, which is a must, especially with fast telescopes.
♦ Motor controls for extraction are available.
Screw connection of correctors to the M54x0.75 thread of the focuser:
If the corrector is screwed onto the focuser, tilting is prevented. For this reason, many astrophotographers attach great importance to it. We have developed a short to M48x0.75 adapter especially for this focuser, the #M54a-M48i. The adapter is only 3mm long. It is linked in the accessories section.
♦ Baader MPCC and TS-Optics TSGPU coma correctors have an additional M48 thread for screw adaptations. You can use these threads and have the full 55mm working distance at your disposal.
♦ You can also use other offsets with the short adapter # M54a-M48i, as long as the M48 thread on the camera side is at least 5mm long. Then there is enough thread left for the camera connection. However, please note that the working distance of the corrector is reduced by 3 mm.
What is the function of the screws at the bottom?
A: Drive part fixing screws. These should always be hand tightened.
B: Access hole for 1:10 reduction set screw
C: Set screw for planetary gear housing
D: Left focus wheel clamp screw access hole
E: Adjustment screw for toothed wheel/rack distance
How is friction established?
A "friction" cannot be adjusted in this way with the rack and pinion focuser. If necessary, you can slightly tighten the "Lock" clamping screw. Under no circumstances should adjusting screw "E" be misused for this purpose. It must be adjusted in such a way that the extension tube has no axial play. Then don't tighten it anymore.
