Description

ZWO USB filter wheel for 7x 2" filters

ZWO's latest EFW (Electronic Filter Wheel) offers a larger free aperture than previous filter wheels, but it's still not heavy - it only weighs 650 grams!

The filter wheel housing is CNC machined from a block of aircraft grade aluminum. It is characterized by excellent workmanship, it is very thin and light with a thickness of only 20mm.

motor drive

At the heart of the EFW is the stepper motor, which comes with reliable performance and quality from NPM, Japan. The 2" power filter wheel can be turned either counterclockwise or clockwise to select the filter.

Multiple cables are not required to power this wheel, a single USB cable will suffice. The maximum current requirement of this EFW is approximately 120mA at 5V, allowing it to be powered from the cooled CCD camera's USB 2.0 port.

filter

There are two variants of the EFW 2:

♦ TYPE1: EFW5X2"

♦ TYPE2: EFW7X2" (this filter wheel)

Both accept 2" threaded filters and unmounted filters with a diameter of 50.4mm ±0.5mm.

When connected to the ASI6200, the filter-to-sensor distance is approximately 18mm.

ZWO's 2" RGBL filters are recommended to work with the ASI6200MM Pro camera, which then offers almost 1:1:1 RGB color balance.

Possible configurations for a working distance of 55 mm

There are several ways to combine the ASI6200 with an off-axis guide and/or filter change system. You can find a detailed description of the different variants in this PDF file: ASI6200 Configurations

The third image shows the requirements that must be met when using 3rd party 2" filters.

Camera connection:

The filter wheel attaches directly to ZWO's full-frame cameras, such as the ASI6200, with or without the camera tilt plate.

The filter wheel can also be attached directly to ZWO-APS-C cameras such as the ASI2600 (and newer ASI071), but M54 to T2 adapters are also available, linked below.

ZWO cameras with 4/3 or 1" sensors, as well as the ASI174MM, can be connected via said adapter or T2-Tilter-2 (optional).

ZWO cameras with smaller sensors can only be connected via the M54 to T2 adapter.

When using correctors, the selection of the fitting depends on the required working distance, while otherwise you can decide quite flexibly.
