TS-Optics NEWTON reducing coma corrector 0.73x - 2" connection

This coma reducer and corrector turns your Newtonian telescope into a speedy astrograph. The focal length is shortened and the field is corrected.

♦ This 2" comma reducer and corrector was developed by Ackermann, a well-known American optical calculator, and is manufactured exclusively for Teleskop-Service.

♦ The corrector reduces the focal length of the Newton and increases the light intensity while correcting the field of view at the same time.

♦ The corrector can be used with all Newtonian telescopes from f/3.5 to f/8. The requirements are only a 2" connection and a sufficient working distance (back focus) of approximately 85mm from the 2" receptacle.

♦ The existing design has been significantly improved at the same time, the usable field is larger, and the lighting has been improved.

♦ Shortening factor 0.73x

♦ The working distance from the M48 thread is 67 mm

♦ Up to 30mm usable field of view (APS-C format) with up to 22mm flat/fully corrected and illuminated

♦ Required focusing distance from 2" focuser socket: 85mm

♦ The mechanical length of the corrector is 56 mm - the corrector is short and does not protrude into the tube. The shorter design also brings a larger illuminated field of view

♦ A filter thread M48x0.75 (2") is available on the side of the telescope

Description

Newtonian coma corrector and 0.73x focal length reducer for your Newtonian telescope

This corrector speeds up your Newtonian telescope and corrects for Newtonian coma. Exposure times can be cut in half. The corrector was calculated by H. Ackermann (USA).

The corrector can be used for the following Newtonian telescopes:

In principle, the corrector/reducer can be used with all Newtonians from f/3.5 to f/8. The reducer has an M48x thread on the camera side. Subsequent adaptation is not a problem and can be planned down to the millimeter with our adapters.

The adapter shifts the focal plane inward about 15-16 millimeters (towards the main mirror). The value results from the reduction factor of the reducer. You need approximately 85mm of space from your focuser's 2" barrel to the focus to be able to use the reducer. Teleskop-Service's UNC and ONTC Newtonian telescopes can be prepared for the use of this special corrector.

However, when increasing the light intensity, care must be taken to ensure proper hold. A slight tilt immediately leads to the blurring of the stars in the edge area.

Usable field of view of the TS-Optics corrector-reducer:

The calculation of the corrector allows a 100% illuminated and usable field of 22 mm in diameter. With a little trick in focusing, this field can be extended to around 30mm. Don't use a star in the center of the field for focus, instead use a medium brightness star in the outer third of the field.

Teleskop-Service tip: how do I get a working distance of 55 mm?

The working distance of the corrector is 67 mm (+/- 0.5 mm) from the connection thread M48. The adaptation is always from the corrector to the camera:

♦ Distance 55 mm with T2 connection:

Tuning ring M48AbstimmA1, TSVF205, TSM48-T2L

♦ Distance 55 mm with M48 connection:

Tuning Ring M48AbstimmA1 , TSVF210 , M48AbstimmA1
