Description

TS-Optics 2" MaxField coma corrector for Newtonian telescopes - suitable for cameras up to full frame

This Newtonian comma corrector combines the advantages of the 2-element short comma corrector with the excellent field correction of the Wynne corrector and the GPU. The corrector can be used on any Newtonian with a 2" focuser. The corrector offers 100% illumination up to a diameter of 35mm and 95% illumination up to a diameter of 43mm. Therefore, the coma corrector MaxField is also suitable for cameras with full frame sensors.

The advantages of the 2" MaxField comma corrector over the GPU:

The sharpness of the stars on the axis and in the field are comparable. But at 72mm (2" barrel length), the corrector is significantly shorter than the GPU, which is 100mm long. The TS-Optics MaxField corrector has two advantages:

 

♦ The focuser does not protrude into the telescope, even if it is completely sunk into the focuser.

♦ The illuminated field is 20% larger than the GPU field due to the shorter overall length.

 

The advantages of the 2" MaxField comma corrector over 2-element short comma correctors:

Like the Wynne correctors, the TS MaxField consists of three lenses. The stars on the axis and in the field become finer and smaller than those offered by simple Ross correctors. Especially new astronomical cameras with very small pixels show the difference very clearly.

Fitting suggestion for an astronomical camera with a 17.5mm back focus and T2 connection:

Back focus is the distance from the T2 thread (M42x0.75) to the sensor. Most cooled astronomical cameras have this distance.

 

Adaptation with filter drawer for filter change:

♦ Astronomical camera ... 17.5mm flange distance

♦ TSM48-T2L extension to M48... 6 mm travel

♦ TSFSLM48 ... filter drawer ... 18 mm travel

♦ BAHYP14 ... 14mm M48 Extension ... 14mm Travel

 

The additional 0.5mm compensates for the optical path of the filter. To the working distance of the corrector (55 mm) always add about 1/3 of the diameter of the filter.
