A significant improvement: the 45° view of the laser:

The ground glass of the laser is inclined at 45°, which is a significant simplification when adjusting the primary mirror.

Even in the case of very long Newton systems, you can easily see them by standing behind the main mirror to adjust it.

The use of lasers in high intensity Newtonian telescopes:

Fast Newtonian telescopes have an offset. The secondary mirror is offset to one side for better illumination of the image field. The eccentric secondary mirror makes it difficult to adjust by eye or with an adjusting eyepiece. A laser ignores secondary mirror compensation, you can set the Newton exactly according to the German instructions that come with the laser.

Working with the TS alignment laser:

1.) Preparation:

Rotate the tube until the extension points up, insert the laser into the 1.25" barrel or 1.25" reduction. Do not hold the laser, you will get better accuracy this way.

2.) Secondary Mirror Adjustment:

Bring the laser dot to the center of the primary mirror by adjusting the setting of the secondary mirror. A center mark in the middle of the main mirror (see third image) is helpful.

3.) Primary Mirror Adjustment:

Rotate the laser so that the side opening of the laser points at the main mirror, this is also possible with point 1.

Now use the primary mirror adjusters to adjust the primary mirror so that the laser spot falls back through the center hole in the ground glass laser screen.

Finish! Your Newton is now very well adjusted and ready for a successful night of observing.
