Description

TS Optics M82 tilting collimator: for perfect field sharpness

Allows precise adjustment of the field and position of the camera sensor for astrophotography - perfect for the Riccardi Reducer with M82 connection thread.

Many astrophotographers know the problem: you focus as well as possible and the sharpness is still not satisfactory in 1-2 corners. The result is a lazy compromise, either changing the sharpness setting until the stars appear relatively evenly "sharp", or simply cropping the corner.

Some possible causes of this problem:

♦ a slight misalignment of the camera sensor (only a few fractions of a millimeter is enough)

♦ a tilt of the focuser

♦ a slight tilt of the field plane of the telescope (very common with Newtonian telescopes)

♦ an inclination of the accessories on the side of the eyepiece when holding them

We have the solution:

With our M82 tilt mechanism, you simply adjust the camera chip to the field of the telescope, no matter where the cause of the tilt comes from. Then you just have to maintain the orientation of the entire adapter, corrector and camera at all times. And this is how it works: the best way is a one-time calibration using test recordings. Identify the "bad corner" and then start tuning the TSJM82.

1. Loosen the locking screws (these are the small headless screws)

2. Adjust the adjustment screws in the orientation where you see image degradation.

3. Take the following test shot: if there is a deterioration, you are going in the wrong direction (then only in the opposite direction), if there is an improvement, you are on the right track.

4. If the result is satisfactory, re-tighten the counterscrews and voila... enjoy sharper astro images, right in the corners... PDF TILT
