Description

TSQ-100ED Quadruplet Apo with built-in field correction

The TS Series Flatfield APO 100mm f/5.8 Quad Apochromat is highly regarded by astrophotographers. The image is free from color errors thanks to the FPL53 lens with an air gap and offers excellent contrast. Thanks to the built-in corrector, the field is perfectly level. You'll have a perfect star image in the field right out of the box, without the tedious search for correctors and the right distance.

Although the apo has been optimized for astrophotography, it will also perform very well visually. Stars are sharp and displayed without color errors. The image remains sharp and rich in contrast up to approximately 300x.

The 4" rack and pinion photographic focuser:

The CNC focuser is optimized for photography and can support a load of up to 8kg. The extension tube adjusts via a rack and pinion. The focuser construction is based on the Starlight Feather Touch and the mechanical stability is very close to that of the Starlight Feather Touch. In addition to the 2" and 1.25" sockets, you also have an external thread M82x1 for screw adaptations. Appropriate adapters are of course available, eg for the M68x1 thread.

Features and Benefits:

♦ Excellent triple lens FPL53 (glass from Ohara, Japan)

♦ Built-in flattener with factory-optimized lens clearance for optimal field sharpness

♦ 4" CNC rack and pinion focuser - comparable to Starlight's Feather Touch - load capacity up to 8kg

♦ The system is free from annoying reflections

♦ Lens and corrector are adjustable: optimally adjusted when delivered

♦ Each Quadruplet Apo is inspected prior to shipment and optics tested

A first-class apochromat for astrophotography:

Our goal was to achieve unmatched image quality on the Y-axis in the field without additional flatteners or correctors. The corrector must be installed permanently and, of course, at the optimal distance from the lens. This is hardly achieved with an optional flattener. In addition, the apochromat must be mechanically sound and easily adjustable. This was achieved with Flatfield Apo.

The focuser must be stable and, above all, designed for heavy cameras. Rack and pinion adjustment means heavy attachments can also be used. The fastening is done securely by locking the fit.

Connection of cameras with a 55mm rear focus

The easy way is through the 2" barrel. With the TSFA240 adapter you get a T2 connection and with the TSVF230 adapter you get an M48 connection for cameras with larger sensors. You can focus without any problems.

Many star friends prefer a screw fitting. The Apo offers an external thread M82x1 for this. We recommend the following adaptation for a comfortable focus position. With the adaptation you do not get too far ahead of the M48 thread and avoid shading with large sensors.

♦ M82i-M68a Length 10 mm

♦ TSVM6840 M68 extension length 40 mm

♦ M68i-M48a Length 5 mm

Visual observation through the apo:

The 100mm Quad is optimized for astrophotography. However, it will also provide very good results for visual observation and allows magnifications up to approximately 250x with good high contrast images. The narrow focus position only allows the use of 1.25" accessories. The focus distance is too short for a 2" star diagonal.

This is how we give the apo to the friendly star:

Our technicians check each individual TSAPO100Q prior to storage to ensure consistently high product quality.

♦ The mechanics are tested, the focuser is optimally adjusted.

♦ The lens is cosmetically checked and cleaned. It is also checked whether all counterscrews are correctly tightened. These often become loose during transport.

♦ The lens is collimated and the result is checked on the optical bench.

♦ Only then are the telescopes delivered to the warehouse and prepared for shipment.

The Imaging Star 100mm f/5.8 Quad Lens:

The apochromat features a classic triple APO lens with an air gap. The lens is adjustable. The socket is temperature compensated, even low temperatures do not change the star image. The main glass is FPL53 from Ohara, Japan. Each glass air surface has the best possible coating from the manufacturer.

On-Axis Optics Performance:

The 100mm quad is not only excellently field corrected, it also delivers true on-axis apo performance. Images are at approximately 250x magnification and show the clean definition and color purity of the lens (left out of focus - right in focus).

Each 100mm quad apochromat is tested in our technical department before shipment, ensuring that your optic will also provide maximum performance in the starry sky.

TS Imaging Star 100mm f/5.8 Quad Plane Field Astrograph - Tested Highly by BBC Sky at Night Magazine

The telescope has been rated Very Good by BBC Sky at Night magazine (Issue 120, May 2015) and has been awarded the four star test plaque.
