In astrophotography, focusing is half the battle. However, this is not an easy task, especially with a Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. The reason: the SC telescope's main mirror wobbles from side to side when focusing. This "offset" is a problem you can easily avoid with Omegon's new Crayford focuser. With this SC focuser, you can focus very precisely. So you can find the exact focus quickly and easily.
Just screw it on and start
The Omegon SC Crayford focuser is very easy to use. Its telescope-side thread fits directly into the usual SC thread of your Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. In 2 minutes everything is screwed and you can start. Set coarse sharpness with the main mirror, fine sharpness with your new focuser.
An improved Crayford focuser
Bearing Type is the name of Crayford's new improved design. Even the Crayford focuser had the advantage of zero play focus. The secret of the Omegon focuser is a ball bearing: 8 large rollers keep the inner tube in a stable position. The pipe slides smoothly into any desired position. Another toothed rack makes the focuser very stable: the tube does not simply slide off, as is the case with "normal" Crayford focusers.
Very soft focus: 1:10 reduction
Set exactly the right focus on the slightly ribbed, rubber-armored focus wheels. Precise adjustments are made possible by multiple ball bearings in the extension tube. The 1:10 reduction makes it even more precise. With it you can focus even at high magnification, for example on the live screen of your laptop.
High load capacity up to 8 kg
An SLR camera, large CCD cameras, off-axis guides, large 2-inch eyepieces. What do these accessories have in common? All of these things are often difficult, especially when used in combination. That is why the Omegon Crayford extension has a particularly high load capacity of up to 8 kg for the weight of the accessory. So put on your accessories, be they light or heavy. Don't worry: just enjoy the starry sky.
Fixation for astrophotography
You can use a locking screw to fix the focus of your astro photos. So the focus mechanism is overridden and you don't accidentally change the sharpness. Here, too, the drawer has an advantage over Crayford's design. Because the screw only disables the mechanics, but does not jam the air chamber. The focuser is always centered and the "tube" is not "pressed".
