Omegon Pro 1,25'', 90° pentaprism

Pentaprism: natural telescope orientation with 90° viewing angle and ultra-bright images

Omegon's pentaprism is a five-sided prism for refractors and catadioptric telescopes. It shows you an inverted image, as if you were looking through a prismless telescope. However, with this prism you can observe comfortably and without physical contortions, with a viewing angle of 90° or 45° (depending on the version). This is a great help in orienting yourself in the night sky, especially when working with the moon and star charts!

Description

The benefits in a nutshell

natural 90° orientation - look through your telescope as if you were looking directly through a refracting telescope

observer-friendly: easy to orient yourself with moon and star maps

29mm optical aperture – use of long eyepiece focal lengths and wide fields of view without vignetting

120mm optical path

better image than with an amici prism

Exact 90° optical angle, independent of the angle of incidence

1.25" filter thread and spring lock

Provides orientation with maps of the Moon and stars.

You can easily lose your orientation when trying to find your way in the night sky. This is particularly difficult when using moon maps, but also with some star maps. One has to mentally compensate for the vertical but inverted image created by a diagonal star to recognize a particular lunar crater, not always very easy! Using a pentaprism means you no longer do this. Simply rotate the star map 180 degrees and you will have the correct orientation.

High contrast with ultra bright images

BK-7 glass, dielectric mirrors and multi-layer optical surfaces: these three technical features are the reason for bright and clear images with a particularly high brightness. And the image is smoother than with a good Amici prism. This is due to the unique design of the pentaprism: edges that would degrade the image on other prisms are not an issue here. The pentaprism is a unique optical work of art.

No vignettes: a free view without obscuration of the edge of the field of view

You can use long focal length eyepieces or wide fields of view. A big plus: the 29mm optical aperture means nothing limits a clear view of the night sky.

Low reflection blackening anodized housing

Inside, the back of the prism is blackened and the casing is light-tight, meaning high contrast is maintained and viewing is always a pleasure.

Pentaprism: a professional aid for astronomical observation

When it comes to the correct astronomical orientation of a map, the pentaprism is a real boon to observers. This is due to the fact that the image orientation is the same as for a refractor. A pentaprism is a five-sided prism with two highly reflective reflecting surfaces. Incoming light always forms a right angle, regardless of whether the angle is oblique or direct.
