Omegon pro UHC filter: to increase contrast when observing nebulae
There are often astronomical objects that cannot really be seen properly. They glow faintly in the eyepiece, somewhere between visible and invisible. But then you play your trump card: your UHC filter. Suddenly you can see the nebula clearly and vividly. Is magic? No, it's just technology!
The advantages in a nutshell:
universal - suitable for observing most nebulae
perfect to start observing using filters
for telescopes 100mm aperture and larger: increases contrast but slightly darkens the sky
comes with its own test certificate
The universal filter for your telescope
The UHC filter is generally useful for visual observation of emission nebulae, planetary nebulae, and supernova remnants. So it's the right filter if you're a deep sky fanatic but don't own a filter yet. You'll be amazed at how much detail you can suddenly see, and not just with dark objects, but with bright objects as well.
The Orion Nebula, for example, is bigger than you think. The UHC filter allows you to see even more of the nebula and its structure. You could easily watch for hours, exploring everything.
Also great for
Rosette Nebula, NGC2237
Eskimo Nebula, NGC2392
Lagoon Nebula, M8
Eagle Nebula, M16
Dumbbell Nebula, M27
North America Nebula, NGC7000 and many more
How the filter achieves such enormous contrast.
O: Why don't you have to go to the Atacama Desert.
An interference filter, like this one, achieves its great results by blocking out most wavelengths and only letting through certain specific wavelengths. Artificial lighting - the 'skyglow' - of cities is blocked, while light radiating from nebulae is let through. The stars appear dimmer, but the nebulae become much more distinct.
More specifically, Omegon's UHC filter allows the passage of the green wavelengths of 496nm and 401nm, which make up the OIII emission lines.
For what telescopes?
The Omegon pro UHC filter allows you to enter the 'ground floor' of nebula viewing. Increases contrast with almost all nebulae. And you can even use it with smaller 100mm aperture telescopes as it darkens the image just a bit.
Omegon professional filter comes with its own test report
One of the benefits is that each Omegon pro nebula filter is pre-tested and comes equipped with its own test certificate.
