TS-Optics 102mm f/11 ED Doublet Refractor Optical Tube
This telescope is optimized for visual observation and photography of objects within the solar system. The ED is equipped with a high-quality ED lens and improved mechanics. The result of the new development is a virtually colorless image and a contrast of the moon and planets that sets standards in this class of telescopes. The 102 f/11 ED is an all-terrain portable telescope, we highly recommend the refractor for the following areas:
♦ Observation of nebulae and galaxies:
With a suitable 2" accessory, you can see a 2.4° field of view in the sky. Wide-field observations are possible. But double stars, compact nebulae and star clusters can also be observed well.
♦ Photography and observation of solar system objects:
The refractor's wonderful contrast and virtually colorless image allow for detailed images of the moon and planets.
♦ Solar observation and solar photography:
The contrast performance of the ED lens makes the refractor a good solar telescope for observing and photographing the sun in white, calcium, and H-alpha light.
♦ Binocular observation:
If you remove the tail tube end piece, the working distance increases from 150mm to 270mm with the draw tube retracted. You can also combine binocular focuses and a 2" diagonal mirror and observe without trajectory compensation.
♦ Observation day:
With an Amici prism you get a vertical, mirrorless image, like through a spyglass. However, the image is brighter and has more contrast than with a comparable spotting scope, which costs many times more.
The advantage of a 102mm f/11 ED refractor:
When directly compared to a similarly sized achromatic refractor, the TS 102ED offers better image color fidelity with excellent contrast. The 102mm aperture collects 63% more light than a telescope with an 80mm aperture. This also makes the 102ED an exciting telescope for deep sky viewing. The relaxed focal ratio of 1:11 and the high-quality 2.5" RAP focuser allow for very precise focusing. The maximum magnification range of approx. 250x can be achieved even with good, inexpensive eyepieces. The 102mm ED is an exciting alternative for all star friends looking for a flexible and transportable telescope for all areas of amateur astronomy observing.
