Relaxed and spatial vision: ideal for planetary and lunar observations
With the binocular accessory, your telescope becomes a binocular. Instead of the unfamiliar gaze with one eye, you can observe in a relaxed way without squinting with the other eye. This not only tires you out more slowly, but even creates impressions of space images when looking at the moon and planets. Also, for physiological reasons, the image appears brighter and larger to you. Even experienced lunar observers discover new details!
Image orientation does not change due to binocular focus. So if you use an Amici prism, for example, to get a vertical, mirrorless image of the moon and planets, this orientation will also be maintained with the rear binocular accessory.
To use a binocular accessory, you need two identical eyepieces with the same focal length. Each output of the binocular accessory has a separate focus ring.
Our expert comment:
A binocular approach offers the advantage of being able to see with both eyes. However, these instruments are primarily intended for brighter observing objects such as planets, the moon, and bright deep-sky objects.
For very faint objects, one eye should still be observed. However, bright objects are particularly fascinating in binoculars.
